Yes it's true.
In a cool place, the petrol won't vaporise so quickly. When the attendant pours petrol, look on your rear mirror and you should see shimmering. I THINK, that would be your precious petrol goin up into air.
That's why people recommend pouring petrol during nights and early mornings.
Entahla, that's what my dad told me. I concluded the shimmering part myself after some observations.
